Dinesh: I feel a nuclear family brings out the best in the family. Even tough a large joint family has its advantages; I believe the overall development of a person can be brought out only by a nuclear family. A nuclear family brings about inter-dependence and mutual respect for family members.
Prefer nuclear family over joint family.It is advisable for the family having modern outlook as they are not accustomed to joint living and feel their privacy is breached and more over the cost of living has gone so high that smaller nuclear family is better.In a nuclear family one can let down the guard and be oneself!
I think it takes a lot of tolerance, sacrifice and adjustments for a joint family to be successful. But unfortunately it is no more practical in today's fast paced world. Hence practically speaking, I think nuclear family functions better!!
In the modern world I do not think joit family will work out... as every youngster would be earning even the women it will be hard for her to play her role in family as a model bahu bahan .. If everybody is understanding then it may workout which even requires elders flexibility towards younger generation Ideas,, else Its good to have a nuclear family and visiting the relatives often and hekping them when needed,, thus take care of them .
Both joint and nuclear family has their own advantage and disadvantages. All said and done it mainly depends on the attitude of the family members to adjust, accept, others in a joint family. If they can then nothing like a joint family.

Hey, i cant say which i would prefer, but i always thought a nuclear family is the best as i could avoid all sorts of complications. I have seen the sort of issues it could cause. But i really love it when my grand parents are home or my aunt. its nice when the house is filled:) to know you have elder ppl in th house is always nice.i feel empty inside when they go back to my native:(
i would go for joint family. small family might have freedom but joint families inculcates certain values which is very imp and is fast vanishing. thr's also a bond bet members....
A joint family or a nuclear family has its own benefits. While in a nuclear family privacy for the newly married couple is guaranteed, It removes the advantage of having people of all generations and so the viewpoint is trained.
A joint family has people of all generations in one family and communication becomes essentially easier however we must note that when it comes to a newly married couple nuclear family is the best as they can get their privacy for their lovey-dovey moments
