Dinesh: Over the last two generations, a housewife has no longer stayed indoors and her job has not just been to rear kids and tend to the family. Apart from these, women have started participating in financial aspects of the family. They are no longer economically dependent as earlier.
Hence the housewife tag is no longer applicable to the earlier definition, and she is *the anchor* of the family, as she participates in all facets of the family and its relationships.
Housewife is no more just housewife to take care of physical aspect or day to day need for the family; but became a junction for emotional flow in the family especially father & children where there is generation gap
The number of 'housewives' has decreased. There are more working women. Women today are financially independent. They are home-makers now. They play a major role in making a house, a home.
The housewife is not merely a housewife now as she has to be working and looking after the family as well apart from doing the daily chores and more over she is more of a decision maker now.
Education, nuclear family, technology and her own need to assert has made a house wife move beyond the threshold of a home. Today she is ready to take up challenges, be a partner at home, She is able to bargain and lead a life of her choice - within the sanctity of a home.
Now housewife's role has become more vital... she not only housewife but bread earner at some home...And she has to manage both home and office.. Many women has successfully claimde the ladder in their career....Some may serve the society as socil workers.. but yet they are playing the role of mother,wife sister etc... role at home... They have becomegood friends to their partner who can seek their advice in any step of their life,rather than just a wife ...
More and more woman have started working in the last two generations. But whether the women are working or not they are the anchor of the family. The do more for the family than men. One reason is biological women has to bear the children and they have major role in the initial few years of a child. Other reason i feel is women are more responsible, more committed in doing their duties.
It has changed completey.I think women now do not depend on their husbands. THey are literally equal halves in every aspect of life.The men are no longer the ones who wear the pants in the house.they not only contribute financially but also take care of everything at home. Which is great. they are nothing less than a super woman:)
